Maatta Racing Hits the snow running at Winter
Thunder Challenge. Maatta Racing Welcomes two new racers, Lacy Olson and RJ
McNelly to the team this year. Lacy will race the JR Novice & women's class and
RJ will race the stock 120 Class. We look forward to working with this new
talent.
Mitch Maatta # 448
Mitch had a rough start with machine issues and a loss of power from his Ski-Doo
440. Having years of racing experience Mitch made the best of it and managed to
advance to the finals. With the Ski-Doo 448 being down on power the pit crew
turned to Billy Buetow. Billy had the intentions of racing this year and
purchased a Polaris IQ 600. At the start of the year Billy changed his mind and
the sled sat in his shop. The Maatta Racing Crew contacted Billy as to the use
of his sled for a weekend test. Billy being a true best friend to the Maatta
Family and to the Maatta Race Team he let Mitch race it. After one weekend of
racing Mitch looked smooth and comfortable on this sled. Mitch has now changed
to Polaris for his choice of sled manufactures. The 2nd week out racing the
Polaris he Finished 3rd.
James Doucet
James had a great start for the Season and has shown that training of the body
and soul works. With faster lap times and he has proven that he has the need for
speed. Still on his 03 Ski-Doo he shows his competitors that he is there for the
long run.
Trudy Maatta
Trudy on here 2007 Ski-Doo showed that the off season did not slow her down,
being as competitive as she was at the end of last season.
Lacy Olson
Lacy has joined the team in our Jr. Novice races as well as the Women’s class.
Lacy has not raced before and will be in training for her first season. With the
help from her team mates we are sure to see her improvements during her first
season.
RJ McNelly
RJ joins the team in our 120 cc class. RJ has been practicing in the yard at
home getting ready for the season. Being the youngest member of the team he will
have the toughest and most controversial racing classes that the Maatta racing
team will be in.
This being the first newsletter Maatta racing will be sending out more brief
notes on the Team members, sleds and there sponsors. Maatta Racing would like to
thank all of their sponsors for making this current season happen. Our 2008
